Kuih Pai Ti

Introducing the delicious Kuih Pai Ti !

Essentially it has the usual savoury popiah filling (fried radish and other mysterious ingredients) placed inside a crispy, deep fried batter cup. Then some lettuce is sprinkled over the combination, topped off with a dollop of sweet chilli.

This dish is better than popiah because its shell is deep fried so you have that crunchiness with the delectable popiah taste. Almost like spring rolls, but nicer because its abit lighter and not as difficult to crunch through. Also, its practically bite size - perfect choice for chinesey hors d'oeuvres.

Apparently that coffeeshop near my house (Kedai Kopi DU, Uptown) is one of the few places in KL that sell it. I'm so lucky to be living a stone's throw away from it!!! So yummy... :9~

Gong Xi Fa Chai

Happy Chinese New Year!

Pros of being home for CNY:
yui sang, cny cookies (♥), cny hampers, cny sales, public holidays, angpow, family dinner

Cons of being home for CNY:
not many cronies are back, your favourite stalls shut for holidays (boohoo), garish cny music bombarding you everywhere you go, shopping malls are extra crowded

All in all, I think chinese new year is a good time to go back as long as you have ample time before and after the cny public holiday period to eat your favourite foods. I was left high and dry for bakuteh...I only got to eat it once. But I bought some spice mix so maybe I can make it one day. hehe. :9~

Pitter Patter

Its been raining all morning. I love sleeping when it rains.

Apparently the water droplets ionise the air, making dirt in the air stick together. Hence this cleans the air and the air you breath in is cleaner, making you feel good. It also works in the shower and thats why alot of people find they think better in the shower. Or so says National Geographic. *shrugs*

I like rain...but not if I have to go out cos I hate wet socks. Which reminds me...I need to get some cute galoshes.

When I was younger I used to love reading and drinking Milo while it rained. Then as I got busier, I relished eating nasi lemak and drinking hot milo after it rained. Now... I have no more rituals. Becoming an adult really does bore you to death.

Lay Your Armour Down

You get one look
I'll show you something that the night took
Abit too early for my own good
[now lets not speak of it again?]

Don't wait, Don't wait
The road is now a sudden sea
And suddenly, you're deep enough
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down
To lay your armor down

Don't Wait :: Dashboard Confessionals

Do you wonder as often as I do?

Don't Wait

The sky glows
I see it shining when my eyes close
I hear your warning but we both know
I'm gonna look at it again

Don't Wait :: Dashboard Confessionals

I love lightening.

My granma used to think I was crazy for staring out of the window during violent storms.

I love turning off the light and, in the unnatural darkness, watch the pelting rain collide on the window pane. I love the low grumble and then the sudden shapeshifting flash followed by a deafening clap of thunder crashing rudely through my head. I love the roar of the wind, howling and whistling through a hole in my broken window, making me feel so vulnerable and yet so safe behind the glass of the window. It makes your heart beat fast, it makes your body tremble with impatient anticipation of the next lightening streak. Come to think of it...its like cable tv, only with scent. I love the smell of rain. I hear its geosmin. Nothing smells like it. And it smells the same everywhere in the world, only its accentuated in the tropics.

I had hoped to encounter another one of these tropical storms on my visit here. So far no luck. I hear Sydney experienced some of it though. I hope it really pours one of these days. I kinda miss it.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Been in Malaysia for a week and 2 hours now! Eating too much....but yea. Having a good time. I've been subtly brainwashing friends to move to Australia. May or may not happen. I hope its the former. Not being particularly productive, but I suppose productivity is relative. Depending on what I've come here to do, I suppose I've achieved almost all my goals except for finishing the books I wanted to read:

  • Shardik - Richard Adams
  • Cross Of Christ - John Stott
  • Brief History of Heaven - Alistair McGrath
  • Case For A Creator - Lee Strobel
Okay. Maybe being slightly ambitious. I used to be able to read that many in 2 weeks! Age is so debilitating.... ;_;

Anyways, kylc a couple of weeks ago was a mad experience! Here's Michael the Magician doing his thang. I'm in the background! With the pedro shirt :P By the way, Michael also did the watch trick with my watch and it worked! So cool... He's so cool.. ♥
